Founded in 1953, the UPTC is recognized as a high quality center and an institution that contributes to the transformation and progress of the region.
It has 11 Faculties, with its headquarters in Tunja and with branches in Duitama, Sogamoso and Chiquinquirá. Also, it has 23 Regional Centers for Distance Learning in 8 departments of the country, with more than 30 thousand students facilitated by highly qualified teachers. It has a varied academic offer that includes all areas of science, starting with programs from technical levels until PhD. It is also the first University in the country leading teacher training.
Internationalization, understood as one of the academy’s most successful responses to globalization, has generated the signing of 195 international agreements with 27 countries and 69 national agreements strengthening the professionalization of students and teachers.
